How to detect a lie?
Let's say that you have a friend who owes you some money. You have heard that they just got paid and you want to suggest that they pay you back. You try to be polite and ask them, "Did you get paid yet?" They answer, "Gee, not yet. The boss said maybe next week." and look to their right (your left). This would indicate that they are constructing or "making up" what their boss said. They are telling a lie.
Police often ask a suspect to describe someone in detail. If the suspect looks to their right (your left) they are generally constructing or "making up" the visual description. If they look to their left (your right) they are generally recalling the details from their visual memory.
So, in general, a glance to your left when observing a person indicates that they are creating or "lying" while a glance to your right signifies that they are remembering an actual event, or being "truthful."

There is a common belief that the calendar holds a prophecy that the end of the world will happen in 2012. At the time, I knew very little about the whole topic and when I began doing the research. I like to think I had an open mind. My investigation began with mainstream archaeology and the expert interpretations of the calendar. But it soon took a turn that made my hair literally stand on end. I am now convinced that these prophecies are true.
To understand what is likely to happen to Earth and it's people, you will need to remain calm and try to follow the facts. It's not as simple as some people describe. It requires an understanding of some fairly complicated scientific realities, but I think I can explain them in a way that you will easily understand.

Imagine the shock of growing up in a loving family with people you call "Mum" and "Dad" and then, suddenly, learning that you are actually adopted!
This same sense of shock came as scientists announced that the Sun, the Moon, our planet and its siblings, were not born into the familiar band of stars known as the Milky Way galaxy, but we actually belong to a strange formation with the unfamiliar name of the Sagittarius Dwarf galaxy!
How can this be?
Using volumes of data from the Two-Micron All Sky Survey (2MASS), a major project to survey the sky in infrared light led by the University of Massachusetts, the astronomers are answering questions that have baffled scientists for decades and proving that our own Milky Way is consuming one of its neighbors in a dramatic display of ongoing galactic cannibalism. The study published in the Astrophysical Journal, is the first to map the full extent of the Sagittarius galaxy and show in visually vivid detail how its debris wraps around and passes through our Milky Way. Sagittarius is 10,000 times smaller in mass than the Milky Way, so it is getting stretched out, torn apart and gobbled up by the bigger Milky Way.

It looks as if someone tried to give a zebra a respray. . . then ran out of white paint halfway through the job.
But in reality there is no artificial colouring on display here. This amazing but natural coat belongs to Eclyse the zorse.
Her father is a zebra, while her mother is a horse. And she's walking proof of how a child inherits genes from both parents.
For while most zebra-horse crossbreeds sport stripes across their entire body, Eclyse only has two such patches, on its face and rear.
The one-year-old zorse was the accidental product of a holiday romance when her mother, Eclipse, was taken from her German safari park home to a ranch in Italy for a brief spell.
There she was able to roam freely with other horses and a number of zebras, including one called Ulysses who took a fancy to her.
When Eclipse returned home, she surprised her keepers by giving birth to the baby zorse whose mixed markings betray her colourful parentage.
The foal was promptly given a name that is in itself a hybrid, of her parents' names.
Now she's become a major attraction at a safari park at Schloss Holte Stukenbrock, near the German border with Holland, where she has her own enclosure.
Udo Richter, spokesman for the park, said, "You can tell she is a mix just by looking at her. But in temperament she can also exhibit characteristics from each parent.
"She is usually relatively tame like a horse but occasionally shows the fiery temperament of a zebra, leaping around like one."
Horses and zebras are often crossbred in Africa and are used as trekking animals on Mount Kenya.
Scenario 1: Sport
Sixty miles up, you sit in a chair on the open deck of a small rocket, admiring the stars above, the Earth far, far below. The vacuum beyond your visor is cold, but it would boil your blood if your pressure suit failed. You give your parachute straps a reassuring pat. It’s utterly silent. Just you and your fragile body, hovering alone above the Earth. “Space Diver One, you are go,” crackles a voice in your ear, and you undo your harness and stand up. There’s nothing for it now: You paid a lot of money for this.
You breathe deeply and leap, somersaulting into the void. The mother planet is gorgeous from up here. You barely perceive that it’s rushing up toward you, and your body relaxes. You streak into the atmosphere at 2,500 miles an hour, faster than anyone’s ever gone without a vehicle. The sky lightens, the stars disappear behind the blue, and a violent buffeting begins. You deploy your drogue chute for stability; an uncontrolled spin in this thin air would rip you apart. The thick lower atmosphere slows you to 120 mph—terminal velocity. After a thrilling seven-minute plummet, you pull your main chute at 3,000 feet, hands shaking, and glide in for landing. A mile away, your rocket retro-thrusts its way gently to the ground.
If you think the stylish and glamorous Mercedes Benz SL550 is still not enough to grab everyone’s attention, then a diamond covered SL550 will most definitely do. Or rather, overdo. This one was unveiled at an auto show in oil-rich Dubai, most probably to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the legendary Mercedes Benz SL550. There’s no info if the diamonds are genuine or fake, but real or not, this car’s price tag is certainly written in figures that only people the likes of the Sultan of Brunei,Jibon or Paris Hilton can comprehend.

Italy has opened its first women-only beach, away from the prying eyes and wandering hands of the country’s notoriously lascivious men.
The beach at the resort of Riccione, on the Adriatic coast, is also closed to children, with mothers encouraged to leave their offspring with their father or grandparents.
Signs at the entrance to Beach 134 say “No Men”. One sign depicts a macho-looking man in a bathing costume apparently ready with his next chat-up line. But he has a diagonal line across his torso, in a manner similar to signs saying “No Dogs”. Ironically, dogs are allowed on the “Pink Beach”.
“This is not a lesbian beach,” Fausto Ravaglia, the businessman behind the idea to ban men, said. “It is simply for women to be themselves.”
Cinzia Donati, 43, a housewife from Milan, agreed. “I’ve left my husband and son behind — and I feel I’ve arrived in paradise,” she said. The beach was “a really classy place, beautifully clean and well organised. It’s perfect for us women. We are so much better off on our own.”
CHARLTON— Gilbert Gottfried, who supplies the voice of the frustrated duck in the AFLAC Insurance commercials, better watch his back — because Ducky, the world’s smallest dog, is gunning for his job.
“When they had the Taco Bell thing, people loved that dog,” said Ducky’s owner, Lisa D. Messier of Charlton. “And Ducky’s so much smaller and everything. I would love to do something like the AFLAC commercial with him because I think he would actually like it.”
Standing 4.9 inches tall and weighing approximately 21 ounces, Ducky, a 2-1/2-year-old short-coat Chihuahua, recently got word from Guinness World Records that he is, in fact, the smallest dog in the world.
Besides the title, Ducky has the distinction that he quacks, hence the fowl moniker.
“The name Ducky comes from the fact that he goes quack, quack, quack,” Mrs. Messier said. “He can’t bark. He quacks and sounds exactly like a duck.”
While some have compared him to a wingless bat and a bulbous, bug-eyed extraterrestrial, there is no denying that Ducky has a look that stays with you.
“The thing is, people either think he’s adorable, or they think he’s really ugly and he looks like an alien,” Mrs. Messier said. “So, it either goes one way or another. There’s absolutely no middle ground with Ducky.”

Good news for the seriously fat: if you survive your heart attack your prospects are excellent.
A study has thrown doubt on the idea that being fat is a delayed form of suicide. Obesity may increase the risks of a heart attack but it also increases the chances of long-term survival afterwards.
The reasons are not known, but obese and very obese patients who have been treated for a heart attack are less than half as likely to die in the next three years as people with a normal body mass index (BMI).

September 24, 2002 - The Peugeot H2O concept demonstrates the effectiveness of fuel cell technology, in a vehicle for fire fighting, which can be used for reconnaissance in areas within towns and cities which are difficult for large vehicles to access.
The H2O is an electric vehicle with batteries, fitted with an auxiliary fuel cell. The PSA Peugeot Citroën group first showed this technology in a Taxi PAC demonstrator vehicle in June 2001. This latest concept has progressed the idea and is equipped with an auxiliary power unit which provides a continuous source of electrical energy to supply various emergency items of equipment such as the pumps, smoke extractors, communication systems, and electric sockets.
The fuel cell system is very environmentally friendly as the only waste product is water, with no other emissions or pollutants.
To allow the H2O to continue to operate in situations where visibility might be severely reduced due to smoke, the vehicle is fitted with proximity sensors in the bumpers and a radar system incorporated in the front panel.
The stylish appearance of the Peugeot H2O belies the fact that it is a fully operational fire-fighting vehicle, equipped with suitable technological equipment. The vehicle was developed in consultation with fire-fighters.
The front of the vehicle looks typically Peugeot with its feline style front end. The rear of the passenger compartment is designed for two people, with a tank and telescopic ladder located across the top, as well as output sockets and connections appropriate to this type of fire fighting vehicle.
The headlights are similar to those on the RC concept cars, with the individual contours of the hood instantly recognisable. Driving lamps are positioned either side of the air intake, built in to the lower section of the front bumper. These extra lights provide greater illumination in difficult and smoke filled conditions.
The hood is short and steeply angled to merge into the windscreen. The chunky wheel arches exude power and strength and the doors curve round to where the tank is located at the back. The rear storage compartments are hidden by metal screens and on the left hand side there are two handles and steps for easy access to the top of the vehicle.
The interior features a touch screen, telephone and GPS system. In front of the passenger is a second screen linked to a PC which displays maps of large buildings. Between the two front seats are the handbrake and controls for operating the ladder. The seats are finished in Neoprene. On the door panels, metal frames are fitted with compartments to demonstrate how different firefighting equipment can be carried.

Maurice Tillet ( 1903?- August 4, 1954 ) was a professional wrestler in the early years of the entertainment-sport. Born in France, he was highly intelligent and could speak 14 languages. He was also a keen poet and was hoping to get into the acting business.
In his twenties, he developed acromegaly, a rare disease that causes bones to grow wildly and uncontrollably. Soon his whole body was disfigured as a result. This led to much pain for Tillet as this gentle man was being called names, berated and forced to flee the place he loved so much.
Seeking a new identity to fit his chronic disfigurement, Tillet fled to America where he made a living on his appearance by becoming a professional wrestler, and was dubbed as the "freak ogre of the ring". His villain persona ("the French Angel") was an instant success with the crowds. Perhaps the highlight of his career was on August 1, 1944, when The French Angel defeated Steve "Crusher" Casey for the American Wrestling Association World championship.MORE
